Sin Logica

Or, how I uprooted my life and moved to Spain to get my MBA in Spanish (and eat lots of jamon)

Hello! Welcome to my first ever blog! I’m really excited about this blog, because it marks the beginning of what I hope will be the coolest (and most challenging!) phase of my life so far.  After 6 tremendous years in Boston, I’ve decided to move (back) to Barcelona to pursue my MBA–a decision that was, quite frankly, as much of a surprise to me as it was to anyone else. (Not the moving back to Barca part; that’s not a surprise to anyone. The MBA part is what’s semi-shocking.) This was a decision motivated by several factors: an intense restlessness, a strong desire to do something profoundly cool and simultaneously productive, and a paralyzing fear of mediocrity/complacency–in short, it was time for a serious change, and an MBA in Europe seemed like exactly what the doctor ordered (if we can refer to Patrick McD as a “doctor”).

So: Sin Logica means “without logic” in Spanish, and there are a few reasons it makes sense for my blog (not the least of which is that I am certainly not notorious for my Vulcan-like grip on logic!). I lived in Barcelona my junior year in college, and my roommate and I had a saying: “There is no logic in Spain.” This got us through various silly, bureaucratic hassles and random, day to day frustrations. Additionally, Barcelona is an incredible city, full of energy, surprises, and a hell of a lot of randomly placed whimsy (think Alice in Wonderland, with or without the white rabbit). And finally, I have agreed to complete my entire MBA in Spanish, which might not have been my most logical decision to date (I had planned to do it in English). Given these facts, I know that I’m in for quite an experience–sin logica.
